A Raise When We Praise
A Beggar's Prayer
Every Thursday, I have bible study with a few eager men on Zoom video conferencing. The current Co-Vid pandemic has forced many bible studies to convert to online video conferencing to keep in line with social distancing. After one of these Zoom meetings, one of the eager men, Ian "Little Eye" Quisol, requested to talk afterwards. He wanted to share with me his experience recently of how God is moving in his life.
Ian "Little Eye" Quisol
He recently visited his fiance in North Carolina. As he was driving back to Virginia, he stopped at a rest area. As he arrives, he sees a man begging for money. The man approaches him and asks kindly if Little Eye could help him get money for a bus fare. He also attests he is a man of God. Little Eye says he doesn't have the money and moves on to use the restroom. After a few minutes of contemplating, he then has a change of heart and walks to the ATM. He draws out twenty dollars and finds the man to give it to him. The man is so thankful and prays over Little Eye. During the prayer, he prays that Little Eye will get a surprise raise at his work and then closes out the prayer. After that, he gets into his car, feels great inside, and gets back to his journey to Virginia.
Later, that same week, Little Eye gets his paycheck of $284. Shortly after receiving the paycheck, he gets a call from human resources and they tell him that they made a mistake on his paycheck. Instead they correct the error and he gets $500. Immediately, Little Eye equates his luck to the homeless man's prayer.
Little Eye became faithful and obedient to Gods voice when he donated some of his riches to another one in need. Although he was hesitant at first, he listened and followed through. The Holy Spirit is a voice that is in all believers.
Also, God loves good deeds but it isn't because of good deeds in which God blesses us fully. Biblically, we should do good works because we, as Christians, feel the overabundance of love by the good works of Jesus Christ on the cross. In other words, we don't give because we are trying to earn our way into heaven but we give because we have been given the gift of grace and life through Jesus Christ. Alleluia! God blesses us through the faithfulness of believing, giving without any consequence, obeying the voice of Holy Spirit embedded in all believers, and surrendering our selves without any expectation. Therefore, once we surrender and empty ourselves to others, Jesus is able to give us more. Basically, we empty ourselves to allow Jesus Christ to fill it. He fulfills! He promises a more abundant life the more faithful and obedient we are to His glory. We serve a gracious giving God. Our God is not impressed by our OWN good works, but when we are led by the Holy Spirit.
I am thankful for what God did for us over 2000 years ago. I am thankful for what God is doing for us now. I am thankful for what God is doing for us in the future. Our almighty savior named Jesus Christ is always willing to provide more than our earthly minds can imagine. He only asks us to believe and obey!
With all faith to Him. Amen!
