One Joyous Day

A Day of Surrender

Surrendering to Jesus Christ can be a hard thing.  Yesterday, I tried it.  Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide my day.  And it worked out wonderfully and better than I expected.

...contemplating...

It all started as I woke up and wrote in my blog.  This task can be hard as I tend to find other things to do around the house to distract me from writing.  But lo and behold, I was able to write and finish a blog about a friend. Ian "Little Eye" Quisol.  My wife also made me a "cowboy" breakfast which means it was a nice table-filled breakfast. We had eggs, bacon, rice, and fruit to start the day off.  I definitely rested after that.

Next, my in-laws brought over lunch for all of us.  Such a great reminder that God provides and how thankful I am to have my in-laws in our lives right now.

The day continued on with us buying super soakers for my kids and an inflatable pool. The pure joy of watching my kids grow and be full of life made the day better.  Honestly, kids enjoy life more than us grown-ups because we get so distracted by responsibilities and stress. Of course, we need to address our responsibilities and stress in order to provide for our kids.  But it is nice to remember those times when we allowed our joy to overcome our responsibilities.  A nice lesson learned seeing them play sporadically. I rested after that.

Afterwards, the pastor at my church, Josh Combs, came by with his family and brought us dinner. He's not just a pastor but a great friend now. We have been meeting together for over a year as he mentors me. We also are currently doing a lot of projects around the church which it is helping to build a stronger relationship between us but also through Jesus Christ.  It was nice to have him and his family come by.  They brought over a wide variety of Mission BBQ delicacies.  We had great conversations at the dinner table about roofing issues at his house to even getting more training on the video production at the church.  He is currently trying to write up a position at church for me...  a producer of the church online.

Later in the evening, my daughter also danced to two songs in front of all of us. Again, to see my daughter dance freely and emotionally was a moment I'll never forget.  She hasn't taken any lessons but she danced like she has been dancing for over a decade.  Wow!

We then proceeded to sing the worship song, "King of Kings" led by my daughter again. To end the day with a worship song to the almighty Lord, Jesus Christ was a great closure.  It was such a random day.  But, by allowing myself to surrender the day to Him, He was able to produce a day that I could not have imagined.  Joy with kids, with my wife, and with my church believers who so happened to be my mentor and pastor.

All glory to God for giving me another day to breath and surrender.  I read Matthew 11 just to end the day with a chapter.  I then rested for the night...  Amen!
